White House Rejects Report on Modi Declining Trump’s Calls
The White House on August 28 firmly denied a German media report suggesting that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had refused multiple phone calls from U.S. President Donald Trump in recent weeks. The report, published by the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) on August 26, claimed that Modi had deliberately avoided speaking with Trump amid diplomatic tensions.
Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly dismissed the claims, stating, “This is completely false. President Trump and President Modi have a respectful relationship, and teams from both the United States and India remain in close communication.”
Officials emphasized that the U.S. and India continue to maintain robust bilateral ties across defense, trade, and global strategic issues. Both nations have consistently highlighted the importance of collaboration in ensuring peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
