GHISS Hosts Sikh Youth Gurmat Camp in Maryland to Foster Cultural Pride
The Guru Harkrishan Institute of Sikh Studies (GHISS) has launched its annual Sikh Youth Gurmat Camp in Maryland, running from July 19 to July 27, bringing together children and young adults aged 6 to 20 for a unique, immersive cultural experience. This 9-day camp is centered around strengthening the connection of Sikh youth to their religious and cultural heritage . Through a mix of educational seminars, interactive discussions, and creative competitions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Sikh values and history. Activities include Sikh history Jeopardy, Punjabi Pictionary, lectures, and group seminars on key Sikh issues. The camp also provides hands-on cultural training in Harmonium, Tabla, String Instruments, and Gatka, the traditional Sikh martial art .
