Two Indian-Origin Researchers Win 2025 Young Tall Poppy Awards – New India Abroad

 

Two Indian-origin researchers in South Australia have been honoured with the 2025 Young Tall Poppy Science Awards for their outstanding contributions to workplace inclusion and global health.

Dr. Ashokkumar Manoharan, Senior Lecturer at Flinders University, was recognised for his research on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workforce, focusing on migrant workers and people with intellectual disabilities. Originally from Madurai, India, he collaborates internationally to develop practical strategies for inclusive workplaces.

Dr. Ben Singh, Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of South Australia, received the award for his research on physical activity, digital health, and cancer care. His work, widely published and globally presented, aims to improve patient wellbeing.

The awards ceremony will be held on August 22 at the South Australian Museum.
