Former Olympic champions Argentina have showcased their hockey dominance once again by winning both the men’s and women’s titles at the Pan American Cup Hockey Tournaments held in Montevideo, Uruguay, on August 3. With this emphatic double triumph, Argentina has booked direct entries for both teams to the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cups, which will be co-hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands.

In the men’s final, Argentina crushed the USA 10-0, continuing an unbeaten streak throughout the tournament. Tomas Domene starred with multiple goals, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer and celebrating his 100th cap. Earlier, Argentina had overwhelmed Brazil 13-0, the USA 3-0, Uruguay 12-0, and Canada 9-1 in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, in the women’s section, Argentina overcame the USA 3-0 in a solid final performance. Having already qualified via the FIH Pro League, Argentina’s win allowed the USA women’s team to claim the direct Pan American qualification slot to the 2026 World Cup.

Canada’s men secured bronze by defeating Chile 2-1 but failed to qualify for the World Cup. Their squad featured several players of Indian origin, including Balraj Panesar and Avjot Buttar. In contrast, the USA men’s team, also with Indian-origin players like Ajai Dhadwal, fell short despite reaching the final.

The USA women's team earned their World Cup spot after a gritty semi-final win over hosts Uruguay, decided in a penalty shootout. Star keeper Kelsey Bing made decisive saves to seal the deal.

With this dominant showing, Argentina, the undisputed hockey powerhouse of the Americas, celebrates its fifth Pan American Cup men’s title and solidifies its global status heading into 2026.
