Death toll rises as Air India plane with 242 crashes in Ahmedabad



In a tragic incident on June 12, an Ahmedabad plane crash involving an Air India flight to London left the nation in shock. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 people, including 217 adults and 11 children, crashed minutes after taking off from Ahmedabad airport. The flight was headed to Gatwick Airport, UK. Eyewitnesses reported a fireball and thick smoke rising from a civilian area near the airport. Among the passengers were 169 Indian nationals, 43 Britons, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian. The aircraft issued a "Mayday" call at 1:39 p.m. local time before losing contact.
